We propose a symbolically rich transit oriented prototype that demonstrates how architecture can act in concert with our environmental and social justice objectives: let’s repurpose material and bring people together! Our prototype pulls decaying ceramic roof tiles from suburban developments and repurposes them into our design for higher environmental performance, as well as recycles them so as to make a more impactful contribution to environmental sustainability. We propose a wide spectrum of housing types, running the gamut from transitional homeless housing to luxury condos. Perhaps most importantly, we advocate for radical programmatic complexity, bringing together diverse individuals and inviting them, as well as offering them a reason, to socially interact.
